Monika and Justin were in Tunisia. First Kalaa Kebira, later for New Years in Tozeur and the desert. Here you can see what we did.
this is Mongi (pronounced Monzhi) father of the family that 'adopted' us
There is a farm that belongs to the family
The 92 year old grandmother and Monika!
This is a salt lake "Shott Jerid"
Just one shot of the beautiful gorges of Mides
Now follow the dunes near Ksar Ghilane:
These are original cave dwellings, used on Star Wars film set, and today function as hotels
the name of the town is Matmata
just about to head into the Oasis of Nefta
Beyond this, there was a Christmas dinner we cooked (but didn't photograph) and Mandelmürbchen that you anyways know what they look like! We also went to a Christmas church service, gave some gifts to our host family and friends, and searched the sky in vain for any sign of snow. As we were not yet in our new apartment, we didn't have a great way to set up a Christmassy atmosphere in our living setting. Presents from overseas arrived a bit later on.
